Pour finir encore est une installation et une série d'images documentant une installation qui est elle-même fait image. L’action initiale se déroule dans une usine désaffectée, que nous investissons symboliquement et ironiquement en repeignant les murs en blanc. Cette action définit la scène, le théâtre dans lequel l'image va être construite et prendre forme. Après avoir nettoyé et peint le coin de l'espace, nous apposons des miroirs de part et d'autre du mur, créant un effet de hors champ qui n'était pas visible initialement dans l'image, et qui exclut le photographe du champ. Il en résulte une sorte d'absence impossible, puisque l'image a bien été faite. L'image ainsi " bricolée " à partir de bouts de miroirs assemblés n'est pas faite pour durer.

L'installation qui abrite les images reproduit le coin photographié en taille réelle, mais à l'envers. L'angle est inversé à 180 degrés, annulant une partie de la perspective de l'image.

Le projet ici est de tendre vers une image qui puisse aller au-delà d'elle-même, qui soit autre chose qu'une surface de représentation et qui ouvre un espace de réflexion sur l'image, sur ce que l'on voit. Il s'agit probablement plus de chercher que de trouver. Le mot " encore " souligne l'humour et l'ironie de cette action, impliquant que l'entreprise a sûrement déjà été réalisée, qu'elle est peut-être veine et vouée à l'échec. En effet, la construction de l'image est initiée par une idée qui peut ne pas aboutir. Ces incertitudes, qui ponctuent la construction de l'image, font que la photographie devient un acte mental, un acte libérateur, peut-être même émancipateur.

Pour finir encore is an installation and a series of images documenting an installation that is itself an image. The initial installation takes place in an abandoned factory, which we symbolically and ironically invest by repainting the walls white. This action defines the stage, the theater in which the image will be constructed and take shape. After cleaning and painting the corner space, we affix mirrors to both sides of the wall, creating an off-camera effect that was not initially visible in the image, and which excludes the photographer from the field. The result is a kind of impossible absence, since the image has indeed been made. The image thus « obbled together » from scraps of assembled mirrors is not built to last.

The installation housing the images reproduces the photographed corner at actual size, but inverted. The angle is reversed to 180 degrees, cancelling out part of the image’s perpective.

The project here is to strive for an image that can go beyond itself, that is other than a surface of representation and that opens up a space for reflection about the image, about what we see. It’s probably more a question of searching than finding. The word « encore » underlines the humor and irony of this action, implying that the undertaking has surely already been carried out, that it is possibly vein and may be destined to fail. Indeed, the construction of the image is initiated by an idea that may not come to fruition. These uncertainties, which punctuate the construction of the image, mean that taking photographs becomes a mental act, a liberating, perhaps even emancipating act.
